Why is it that traveling to someplace almost always seems more fun than the return trip? Heading somewhere is so exciting and filled with anticipation to see a new place or visit with family and friends but that return trip can be horrible! It seems all we want to do it get home, get unpacked and get back to normal - now! Since the holidays are coming to a close and those return trips are looming, here are some great ways to incorporate essential oils into your trip to help with jet lag and keep your return trip manageable.

First of all, here are some tips for traveling to make things go smoother:

  1. Avoid fatty food a day or two before your flight and after. Travel can be hard on your body.
  2. Avoid alcohol, tea and coffee on the flight and choose water to stay hydrated.
  3. Walk around the aircraft when you are able to keep blood circulating and flowing.
  4. Get plenty of rest so you are alert in case your flight is bumped.

While you are drinking water on your flight, add a couple drops of ZAQ's Lemon 100% Pure Essential Oil to give yourself a little anti-oxidant boost. Plus, it will just taste great! If you are finding yourself having trouble staying focused, and you need to be focused when traveling, try rubbing a drop or two of ZAQ's Clarity Blend Essential Oil on your neck or wrists.  This will help alleviates fatigue and stimulates mental activity.  Also, if you feel a headache coming on, it will help with that as well. You can also add a drop or two of Clarity Blend into your water for the same effect.

When you have to travel from coast to coast or even out of the country, this can really mess with your internal clock. ZAQ'S Geranium Organic Essential Oil and ZAQ's Lemongrass Organic Essential Oil are known to rebalance hormones and help reset your clock. At the same time, if you need help getting a little rest on the plane, add a drop or two of ZAQ's Lavender 100% Pure Essential Oil to the pillow.  Lavender will help calm you and let you get some rest and relaxation.  On the other hand, if you need to stay away and you are about to land, know you have to collect your luggage and drive home, try rubbing some ZAQ Peppermint 100% Pure Essential Oil on your wrists.  Peppermint oil will perk you up if you are feeling an energy lull.

When you finally make it home and kick off those shoes, try adding a drop or two of essential oil to a warm bath. I would suggest also using Epsom salt. Epsom salt has a high magnesium and sulfate contents and helps relieve sore muscles and fight inflammation. This may be much needed after a long flight. Oh, and my personal favorite for the bath is ZAQ's Sweet Orange Organic Essential Oil

I hope you all have safe travels and wonderful visits to great places!
